Three Bridges Democratic Club

The purpose of the

Three Bridges Democratic Club (3BDC) shall be:

1. To promote progressive political principles within the framework of the Democratic Party on the national, state and local levels.

2. To discern community concerns, to follow the activities of other Lower Manhattan and citywide groups and associations, and, when we agree with the aims of those groups, to unite with them in accomplishing their community purpose;

3. To provide a democratic forum for the debate of political issues relevant to the residents of this community;

4. To encourage the informed participation of all Lower Manhattan residents in the political process, by both active voter registration and the dissemination of information about candidates and issues;

5. To assist any community resident who is not receiving from his/her/their government the services or benefits due, by interceding with the appropriate governmental office or official;

6. To seek and support candidates for public and party office of ability and integrity who are dedicated to the principles which 3BDC espouses, and particularly to elect district leaders to serve this community;

7. To investigate proposed legislation and lobby for the enactment of those bills that will further our political goals;

8. To eliminate services, favors or contributions to a political party as a factor in the making of an appointment or assignment by public officers, and to eliminate the practice of permitting party offers to exert control over such appointments and assignments.
